Byron Falls, Minnesota

Byron Falls was founded by a French fur trapper who stayed in the Americas after fighting under Lafayette. It was founded on May 23 1798. The town is remote even today, surrounded by deep, dark forest for at least fifty (50) miles in any direction. For more information about the town’s past read up on Byron Falls’ Founders and History

What remains of the original town is now run down and in disrepair. Due to the fact that the newer parts of town are on the other side of the railroad tracks, it has earned the monicker of Steel Rails. A beautiful tract housing development was finally built in the late 1950’s called Silver Meadows. It remains a typical middle class neighborhood for the most part, yet resisting modernization. For those with wealth, a gated community named Iron Gates is the place to live. Well guarded as well as gated, folks from Steel Rails and Silver Meadows rarely get to see the inside.

Byron Falls has its share of annual events. Miss Teen Byron Falls and Miss Byron Falls are annual events which turn out the whole town (despite, or perhaps because of, the dangers). Another event which turns out the whole town is the 4th of July parade, the biggest spectacle of the summer. And while most American towns know of Halloween, only in Byron Fall would the day mean being cut off from the rest of the known world.
